I like the ride options from the Aerie Trailhead because there are so many loop possibilities. We spent two days riding here and covered almost every trail, some twice. Each day was a good mixture of intermediate and advanced trails. Some of my favorites were Last Frontier, Mescal, Chuckwagon, Ledge-n-Airy, Girdner, and Outer Limits. Outer Limits and Last Frontier felt off the beaten path, and had a somewhat different character. We were up above the canyon on a strip of trail that hugged the cliffside with plenty of little rock obstacles. Mescal is always a favorite in that it’s one of the more technical ones in that network with a couple sections that I’m always thrilled when I can ride through without stepping down.
Last night a wind storm whipped up and we had to hunker down in the trailer while it blew past. (pun intended) Derek made some chicken tortilla soup for dinner and we had a couple really good beers. It’s no secret that I’m into the darker beers and last night we had the Santa Fe Brewing Company Imperial Java Stout, and Oskar Blues Hotbox Coffee Porter. Both delicious and both beers we would have again. Cheers!

Two coffee beers! Were you able to sleep? They taste so good and bitter… FYI, only Maston is open. Although Meissner is closed, they got 6 inches at Mt B!
