Lower Antelope Canyon was our adventure for the day. The plan was to paddle board from Antelope boat launch back to and through the canyon as far as we could and then hike. The first mile was the choppiest churned up section of water I’ve ever paddled. Speed boats, tours, jet skis, everything. The water was an angry swirling maddening mess. Once inside the canyon it settled down and was really peaceful and pretty. Sheer rock walls rose up and looking down you could see the behemoths continuing down below the water like icebergs. Another two miles of paddling brought us to the end of the line.
The water ended so we ditched the boards and hiked in for about an hour. It was mostly dry, other than a few mud pits we had to negotiate. After turning around we ate the leftover pizza we’d made FROM SCRATCH the night before (not totally easy in a trailer), and headed back across the Atlantic Ocean. Haha. We made it! Totally worth the effort, check out the pics.
These are really amazing pictures. Thanks!
Aren’t slot canyons great! What me to order you an inflatable pizza oven? Where next? How about Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument – do North. I got some suggestions if you do, but you’ve probably already know them.
It depends on the weather.
