Derek and I volunteered to be chili judge assistants at the festival. Since the chili competition was a blind tasting, we were in charge of bringing each chili to the judges and keeping track of whose was which chili. In exchange, we got in free to enjoy all you can eat chili and all you can drink beer!!!
My favorite beers were New Zealand’s 8 Wired Wild Feijoa. This was a sour beer brewed with Feijoa, a fruit from South America that is a pineapple guava, and then aged in wine barrels. Along the sour line, I also really liked Crooked Stave’s Sour Rose. Jagged Mountain Brewery had a very delicious Blond Milk Stout called This Beer Really Ties the Room Together – a Big Lebowski reference. Crested Butte’s own Irwin Brewery also had a good stout. What a fun event!
