Looking back through pictures, we realized we never posted from out last days in San Diego. While staying with Derek’s mom, we took another day to ride around the area and check out the views. We took our gravel bikes again and did a big loop that clocked in at 38 miles with 3600′ of climbing. We only trespassed once, and hit some nice bike lanes and gravel back roads. Views from the top of Double Peak were neat, and thank god they were, because the climb up was tough.
We hit up a few breweries while in the area. Mikkeller down in Little Italy was a cozy little tap room with 18 of their beers on tap. We took the trolley downtown and walked around before quenching our thirst there. Also, Burgeon Beer Company up in Carlsbad was very good.
Have you ever been to a serve yourself type bar? We went to Barrel Republic one day to check it out. At the door they give you a wrist band with a little sensor on it which looks a lot like a watch. You pick a glass and wander around tasting beers. The sensor activates the tap you want and you pour as much or little of whatever. It’s dangerous because you don’t know how much you’ve spent until you pay at the end!
