Pontiac Ridge
Our first hike of the year was short but sweet. We hiked Pontiac Ridge which was four miles with 1300′ of climbing so basically two miles up and two miles back. What a gem! Once you get past the last row of houses it’s all wilderness and absolutely beautiful. After a quick descent down to the wash we crossed over and climbed up the ridge and around. The trail is pretty rocky which makes it more difficult to take in the grand views.
More Arizona Trail
We have been knocking out sections of the Arizona Trail and completed another new section today. This part started southeast of Tucson about 40 minutes. We parked up off highway 83 and connected with the singletrack immediately. This section had a lot of climbing, in fact, it actually felt like we climbed all day…both ways. It’s rough with lots of rocky terrain and has a primitive feel which I love. There were zero other people out there and we soaked up the sun and 70 degree temps.
As out time in Tucson winds down, it’s bittersweet. Our time here has been outstanding with endless activities whether we were hiking, riding, or enjoying time with family. We have been spoiled with endless home cooked meals, great times around the fire, and new shared experiences. Just the other day, the one year anniversary of my last day of work passed. Wow, time has flown! Cheers to more new experiences.
