Two weeks at our current boondocking spot went fast and our last few days were spent like the rest, riding and hiking. Our Praying Hands to Slot Rock hike was a 5.2 mile loop with 1004′ of climbing and featured some fabulous rock outcroppings that looked like praying hands, and some giant rocks that formed slots. This area is simply marvelous for hiking.
The hike starts with an easy jaunt out on the Treasure Valley Loop but kicks up after the turnoff for the praying hands trail. We had to make a couple course corrections because there are a lot of sub trails in the area that will take you up into some of the other rock formations. This was the only steep part and where we gained all the elevation. We continued on back past the praying hands and around to the slot rock before finishing through the recent burn.
This was a great hike that wasn’t too hard but had great payoffs. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re ever in the area.
Gold Canyon Bike Rides
Derek did a few more days of mountain biking in Gold Canyon. It’s nice that the trails are right out our door…and fun! While he was tearing it up, I was riding roads gently to see if it hurt my elbow any more than not riding. I’m talking barely gripping the handlebars and not really leaning on my arms at all. It has been 2.5 months now that I have rested it and while it is better than before, it still hurts. I’ve done everything everyone has suggested and now it just needs to do it’s thing and heal. Send healing vibes!
