We spent another gloriously sunny day hiking around in the desert looking at rocks and a mine. Our hike was a 9.8 mile loop out to Ruby Lee Mill and around Porcupine Wash with almost 1000′ of climbing. Disclaimer: We saw no porcupines.
We hiked out into the Hexie Mountains across the desert heading generally up the wash though we weren’t following an actual trail. The hiking took us out into the rocks and eventually we reached Ruby Lee Mill. This mine was established back in 1935 but there isn’t much info about it. Shortly after leaving the mine we started to loop over to the next wash and head back down. This side is more interesting with quite a bit of rocky walls to check out.
We didn’t see any people or porcupines for the whole 4 hours we were out there. I was disappointed to not see porcupines, but happy to not see any people.
We have been treated to some fantastic sunsets out here lately! It’s been nice sitting outside watching these setup.
