I know, I know, you’ve read posts about us riding the ODT before. But we’re breaking it into sections and this is a different one. This time we started at Lake Crescent and headed west on the paved path. The beauty is you can pick your distance…just turn around and head back.
Our ride started with a bit of a climb on the winding pavement up towards Mount Mueller before descending back to cross the highway. A lot of this route is shaded because you’re in the cover of the forest where it’s cool and dark. A lot of this route follows the Sol Duc River, in fact, we crossed it a few times.
Eventually we popped out at a small road that took us parallel to the highway but kept us off it. After a few more miles we turned back. It was an uneventful turn around point, but the whole ride was a great exploration.
