Canyonlands National Park in Utah is a huge expense divided into four districts. We’re dispersed camping in the Needles District for a couple weeks to ride, hike, and relax. The name “Needles” comes from the colorful spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone that dominate the area. This park is remote and rugged. There aren’t hotels, restaurants or gas stations.
First up we hiked Chesler Park. This hike got us up to a pass overlooking a scenic expanse of desert grasses and shrubs surrounded by sandstone spires called Chesler Park. The hike is almost 6 miles with a lot of rock hopping, scrambling and route negotiating. It’s slow going in spots and took us a few hours. Every step of the way was picturesque. Really.
