Canyons run right up through Tucson into the surrounding mountains and the hike we did was in Ventana Canyon. The trail starts in and among an apartment complex and a spa. You’d never suspect that in just a mile of fairly easy hiking you could get away from the city and experience such beauty and challenge. Rocks, rocks and more rocks. This trail has a hard rating even though it’s around 5 miles, because the terrain is rough, you cross water something like 12 times, and the upper mile or so has hefty elevation gain. Maiden Pools is a series of pools along with a rushing river thanks to the recent snow and rain in the area. I like challenging hikes so that I don’t feel like we’re just walking. This hike checked that box and I highly recommend it if you’re ever in Tucson.
In Tucson there is a thing called Market On the Move (MOM). For $10 you can get 60 pounds of fresh produce. It was started by a nonprofit called The 3000 Club. Mom mom goes all the time and this week was no different. We had quite the spread the other day! In addition to our snack of peppers and dip, we enjoyed roasted pepper soup for dinner.

Another “person” who is enjoying their time in Tucson is Fletcher. Check out the picture of him in his dirt pit.
