Fall colors are starting to drop!!! We rode Chicken Creek and Mancos Rim Trail as an out and back for a 20 mile, 2,200′ of climbing day. These aren’t very heavily used trails but both were fun, though definitely less maintained. Chicken Creek is a ribbon of singletrack through the forest with plenty of rocks and roots. Our day was mostly uphill on the way out, and downhill on the way back. Chicken Creek Trail connects at the top with a climb up to Transfer Campground. From there we checked out the Mancos Rim Trail.
The Rim Trail up top had phenomenal views. Plenty of yellow, orange and red to ooh and aah over. The trail isn’t very long and we hooked back in to the road that took us back to the campground for the return trip down Chicken Creek.
We have other ex-Bend full time rv friends camping nearby and are enjoying visiting and swapping stories with them.
You guys are going to have to go into hibernation pretty quick, You better find a place soon.
