Last year when we were in Salida for July we rode some of the trails on Methodist Mountain. These trails are purpose built for mountain biking and very close to town. The other day we rode out there again and put together trails amounting to 21 miles and 2657′ of climbing.
We started by riding out and back on Double Rainbow Trail, then rode almost everything else on the mountain. There are some new trails and we loved both Solstice and Sol Train. Both were downhill suggested routes and for a reason; the trails are flowy with whoops, jumps, tabletops and berms all the way down. VERY fun! We need to get back up there to ride another new trail called Guts.
Last year for the 4th of July we marched in the Salida parade! This year was much quieter. We are very comfortable social distancing and relaxed outside with views of all the surrounding mountains. So peaceful. We did enjoy beer by the local brewery Elevation Beer Company. It’s a coffee milk stout made with a blend of organic Guatemala and organic Timor beans from Buena Vista Roasters. Yummy!
