Buena Vista, CO has a very fun mountain bike trail system. We rode out here last year and did so again the other day. Our ride was 22 miles with 2177′ of climbing so almost a day off for us. Haha!
We rode a lot of the most challenging trails like Umchained, Broken Boyfriend, and Elevation. The trails are all very well built and make great use of all the rocky terrain in the area. I like it when trails go over and through challenging terrain instead of around it! Unchained was new to us and I loved it. In a lot of places there are several lines depending on your riding skills. It was fun to explore and check-out different options. This is one of those trails that for the most part isn’t high speed top to bottom because a lot of the riding is tight, twisty and technical. Three of my favorite T’s!
The views from a lot of the trails are breathtaking as you look out on the Collegiate Peaks. Broken Boyfriend was another favorite for the challenges and views. Thunder started booming as we finished this trail and we picked up the pace to try to beat the storm. Storms move fast here. Winds gusted and pushed us around, a bit of rain started spitting, and then the sun came out and the day was glorious.
