I will be back to ride this again. It was that good.
Ella Mountain is the newest trail in Caliente, NV and it is a true gem. We rode the top section as an out and back and next time I’d like to check out more. The entire trail is 25 miles with 3000′ of descent off nearby Ella Mountain – right back into town. It would make a very very long loop or you could shuttle it. However, don’t let it mislead you, there is still a lot of climbing along the descent.
Our ride was 14 miles with 1544′ of climbing up to the top of 6773′. We drove out Ella Mountain Road and started where the trail crosses. From here it would be 15 miles of trail riding down to town. However, we took the trail further up to the terminus high up on Ella Mountain. This is rated black diamond or advanced and after the first few miles it was indeed more difficult. The trail is phenomenal. Stunning views, exposed slickrock, narrow singletrack and incredible flow make this a must do. This area is extremely remote and we didn’t see anyone else out here all day.
