For people who live full time on the road traveling, we don’t really like driving. I can’t stand to sit for more than a few hours so we never go far on moving days. After our stay at Mt. Hood we did a 4 day move to Elko, NV. On the way we saw a lot.
Wherever we go we find stuff to do. First we moved to Duncan Reservoir in Silver Lake, Oregon for a night. This isn’t a big reservoir but it was a free campspot and very quite. I was a able to hike around for a few miles exploring the area.
Next we moved to Sheldon Wildlife Refuge and wow, that place was pretty cool. Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1931 to protect the imperiled American pronghorn. The refuge today is important for the conservation of pronghorn, greater sage-grouse, American pika, California bighorn sheep, redband trout, and hundreds of other wildlife and plants which depend upon sagebrush habitats found in the high desert of the Great Basin. We rode bikes to a canyon and hiked around.
Our next move was to Winnemucca, NV. This is actually the first place we stayed overnight when we went full time and now almost 6 years later we stayed there another night. We hiked up the canyon to explore and had a really quiet stay here.
Now we’re in the Ruby Mtns by Elko, NV and it’s awesome. It will take some time to go through all the pictures for this place! However, just the drive to our spot was impressive so I’ll leave these as a teaser.
