I call this the Chicken Creek Gravel Loop but part of it is paved. We have ridden this loop before and it’s always so beautiful and fun. No different this time. I did roll the dice with the weather and ehhh, you win some and lose some. I got sprinkled on.
The climbing on this route is all at the start and 99% gravel road. The gravel is fairly good (meaning not too chunky or rough) except for a few stretches that are rutted, rocky and chewed up from use during the mud season. As you work your way higher up, the trees change with the elevation. Aspens are thick and heavy towards the top and everything is VERY green right now. Speaking of the top, this ride hits darn near 9000′! From here you hit pavement and BOMB down to where you started.
I saw zero other cyclists.
