Sometimes trail names make sense and other times I think the creator just picked a name they liked. In this case, it was named appropriately. We mountain biked a fun loop in Dolores, Colorado that included a trail named Bear Tracks.
You see where I’m going with this? I started seeing a ton of bear paw prints all over the trail and tried to get a picture but it didn’t really turn out. It’s no surprise there are bears in the area, one even got hit in the tunnel at Mesa Verde National Park the other night. 🙁 I have some friends who had a bear break into their house during the night. Thankfully it was scared off by their barking dog, but whew – too close for comfort. So in this instance it was nice to see the prints but not the bears.
There isn’t a whole lot of technical riding in the Boggy Draw Trail network but when there are a smattering of fun rock sections. Mostly the riding out here is good old fashioned cross country through the forest with meadows, aspens, pine, juniper and lots of oak and sage. It smells SO GOOD!
