Derek and I are in this area all summer so I won’t be posting about every ride we do, but maybe all the new ones we check out. Last time we rode Weaverville trails we had to stay on the lower slopes because the mountains at higher elevation had snow! This time everything was dry and we went higher.
We started our ride downtown in Weaverville and rode a series of trails into different parts of the trail network. The singletrack is perfect and the climbs are actually pleasant. We passed through conifer, oak, madrone, and all sorts of conditions. Down along Weaverville Creek the trail is under the cover of trees and slightly dark. With the sound of the creek rushing below, we snapped a picture with bigfoot. He must love this area.
Jackass Ridge Trail and Blue Lead Trail were fast and fun. The views along the ridge line down into town are expansive. We didn’t see anyone else out here on a weekday which is nice. I like the quietness of this network and am impressed with how fun the trails are. I’d definitely recommend the riding to anyone passing through or in the area.
