Cancelled

Living full time on the road has added challenges during this pandemic. Our plans in Texas were to ride it out in state parks through May, where we could be away from people. Keeping a close eye on what was happening around the country, we weren’t surprised when the cancellation notices for our next reservation came. Being that Texas has little to NO public lands to camp on, we decided to leave the state.

We’re currently camping on some friends’ land in SW Colorado. We’ve been to this area before and always love the quiet and beauty. I am extremely thankful to them for allowing us to stay here. It’s just weird not being able to really see them or interact. We have enough food for at least a month, probably longer. Luckily Derek is a chef and we are never just eating beans out of a can.

Today on our ride we saw a giant herd of elk and an eagle! There is still snow above 8300′ or so, and not wanting to ride singletrack around other people, we found a fun gravel route right from our trailer. It was good to be back at elevation with the dry air and brilliant skies. So that’s our plan until it isn’t…camp here, ride gravel and road routes, soak up the beauty of the area and stay safe.

Thanks Jon! We’re so good at isolating that we may never stop.

Oh Texas, you are so weird! I think the south is a little late to the pandemic party. You know like they thought AIDS only happens to homos, and crono only affects city folks!

Kansas, I know not really South just Bible thumping, still wants to have church gatherings! Here in Bend we don’t want to obey rules cause it means we’ll get out of Strava shape. We are one step from having the Forest service shut down all trails.

It reminds me of smoking. A disgusting habit until we learned about 2nd hand smoke. Then the pitch forms came out. With this virus we are in it together, but I don’t think many Americans like inconvenience truths.
