We are having so much fun that we just keep riding everyday. I’ll give a short recap. Today was day #8 of riding here. Oof! We rode all the way up the Junction Creek Trail to the Highpoint and then blasted back down. It is so pretty back in there with the giant Aspen’s, flowers and grasses. We’ll come back in early fall when the rest of the Colorado Trail is free of snow so we can ride more awesome singletrack.
Then we rode at Phil’s World in Cortez again when the forecast called for thunderstorms in Durango. We doubled up on a trail called Rib Cage because it is so swoopy and fast it seemed worth riding twice!
Twin Buttes is a fast network on the edge of town. A loop of everything was around 9 miles with 1200′ climbing so it’s easy to just do another loop. These trails are well built with nice flow as you climb switchbacks and twist around the Buttes.
Our friend Katri had us over for a delicious dinner and made so much we went back the next day to have leftovers! It was nice to see a friendly face after a couple months of not knowing anyone.
We are sad to leave Durango, we’ve had so much fun here. But alas, it’s time to hit the road and move on. Next up, Montrose.
Being a stranger must get old. It’s nice seeing a familiar face and comfortable talking about shared history. Well there is always the impersonal internet!
We had fun on the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge train ride. Got an open car!
