This week we’re at the Salida Colorado Xscapers Convergence. Technically, we’re in Poncha Springs at the fairgrounds. The Xscapers are a group of working age RVers who get together throughout the year with different events every evening.
Today Derek and I mountain biked the 25 mile Cottonwood Loop in Salida. Wow, those were really fun trails. The loop was a mixture of intermediate and advanced trails with lots of technical rock sections. 3000′ of climbing meant good downhills too!
We were last in Salida back in 2003 I think. We flew to Denver, rented a car, met up with a friend and rode in Boulder and then came to Salida and rode a couple days at Monarch Crest. At the time Salida was a pretty quiet little town. Wow, not anymore! Much like Bend, the word is out that there is a lot to do here. It’s still a small town, but tourism has taken off! I can’t wait to ride more here this week!
