Jefferson Lake is a pretty popular fishing lake near where we were camped. We took a picnic and walked around the lake to a suitable swimming spot for Fletcher. He spent his time as usual, splashing around like godzilla, hunting for fish. I had to drag him out when he began stumbling and falling from exhaustion. So much spirit and pure joy in that dog. His cancer is worsening though the only sign is the big growth on his upper pallet and nose. It enlarges daily. We love him.
One lake is never enough so the next day we hiked to Gibson Lake. Round trip it was 7.4 miles and worth every step. It’s only really steep for a few miles at the end with the rest pretty tame. I felt like I was back in Switzerland when we reached the top!
Life on the road isn’t all glory, we still have to do laundry. We found a little laundromat in Bailey, CO to wash our accumulated cycling gear. Bonus, free WiFi. Oh the little things.
