Double Top Loop
This ride had my least favorite trail of Crested Butte. We rode out Brush Creek dirt road to a short trail called Death Pass. It sounds ominous but it wasn’t, just a nice ribbon of cliffside singletrack above the creek. We kept climbing on Trail 400 until the intersection with Block and Tackle. Up that we pedaled, through dark rooty forest until we broke through the trees and traversed the mountain to Double Top Trail.
I don’t think Double Top shouldn’t be advertised as a mountain bike trail. It is incredibly chewed up by motorcycles for much of the uphills and a lot of the downhills. We hiked off and on for miles. Granted, the scenery is grandiose, but all the hiking kind of annoyed me.
Luckily, the payoff is the trail 409.5 downhill that we rode the other day. It’s rooty, rocky, loose, steep and fast, Pretty much everything in one trail!
Is there anywhere you guys go that is NOT goergous, breath taking and result in great pics?
