This year Derek and I have collected billions of memories and they just keep coming this holiday season. I was able to spend my niece’s 8th birthday with her, and Christmas with family.
We made four kinds of homemade tamales with my mom for a Christmas Eve celebration. Darnit, I don’t have a picture but they were delicious! Bonus, it made enough that she froze some for us to take when we hit the road again soon.
It’s weird not having snow for Christmas but it still felt just as festive. One night we went to Lights of the World to check out the displays. This is the largest light and lantern festival in North America with features of different cultures and civilizations around the globe.
Desert Walk
It rained off and on a couple days and even snowed in the surrounding mountains. When the storm broke we headed out for a hike/walk in the desert. We looped around for 6 miles or so on some of the lower trails at Saguaro National Park. Water was flowing through several of the washes and plants were blooming everywhere. What a treat to see the cacti against a snowy mountain backdrop!
To all my friends and family everywhere, Happy Holidays!
