Our daily routines haven’t changed much with the pandemic. We still get up and have coffee; I make it since Derek is not capable of much until he drinks it. For over a year now we have been using an Aeropress and love it. Breakfast happens, I do stretches for about an hour, and then we decide what to ride.
We have been riding our gravel bikes instead of singletrack as a way to even further distance ourselves from people. Mentally and physically I have always needed exercise to stay healthy and sane and we’re continuing that.
As we hunker down here, our rides will start to all look the same so we might not post as often. The other day we added another successful exploration ride in the books. From our trailer we did a loop with a couple legs of out and back to dead ends. It was 24 miles with 1664′ of climbing. We passed peacocks!!!!!
There is a very convenient and fun loop that goes around the south side of town through all the farms and ranches. The views of Mesa Verde National Park are awesome. You might remember that we visited that park last year. Loops rides are interesting to figure out which was the loop is better; clockwise or counterclockwise. One day we rode the loop 3 times and mixed it up going both ways. This was a 30 mile, 2,149′ ride. I’m pretty sure I like it counterclockwise best.
I’ve been walking a couple miles in the morning before I do my stretches. It’s chilly but usually sunny and very quiet. As shitty as the world is right now for people, being outside makes it better.
Peace and quiet is good for the soul. Enjoy it!
