We already posted about the mountain bike trails in Goblin Valley State Park, which unfortunately are the only real mountain bike trails nearby. There are a lot of off-road (OHV) routes around here that are popular with the jeep and side-by-side crowd. So I decided to get out and explore some of these roads to see where they lead.
I started from camp and headed out into a cool canyon that wound around behind a big rock mountain called Temple Mountain. The OHV road then started climbing and it eventually came back out on the gravel road we are camped on about 8 miles up. The views up here were pretty cool because you could see Temple Mountain and the high desert behind it along with the backside of the San Rafael Reef. After enjoying the views it was a fairly quick decent back down to camp. Overall the ride was 20 miles with 1896′ of climbing.
