New favorite in the area! We rode Stump Hollow as a lollipop or cherry stem. Up the trail, did a loop at the top, and came back down. Our ride was 13 miles with 2031′ of climbing.
The trail climbs steadily from the start and travels through shady forest of aspens and firs. It’s pretty smooth for the most part though there are some rocky sections sprinkled in. A couple switchbacks spit you out into a beautiful flower filled meadow and views of Logan Canyon. It seemed like a quick climb to me and then we were doing the loop at the top.
We rode the Stump Hollow loop at the top in a counterclockwise direction. After a short descent we got to Peter Sinks. At an elevation of 8,164 feet, Peter Sinks is a natural limestone sinkhole approximately one-half mile in diameter; one can liken it to a large bowl, which has no valley outlet to drain water or air. We continued by it and climbed up to an 5 way intersection where we promptly made a wrong turn and headed down Burnt Fork Trail. This trail is a long stretch of whoops that you are guaranteed to catch air off. We got about a mile or so down before realizing we were heading the wrong way and had to turn around and climb back up.
Back at the top we took the correct trail and continue our loop back to where we were early in the ride on Stump Hollow. Time for the downhill. This is a blast. I highly recommend this downhill as it isn’t too technical, but VERY fast and flowy with lots of jumps. So much fun!
