Most of the time we try to find boondocking spots near all the riding and hiking we want to do so that we don’t have to drive much. This spot allows us to do just that. Again, we rode from camp on a fun route of 15.3 miles with 2178’ of climbing.
We started out by riding to Willow Creek Trail again and taking that down, down, down until we reached Right Hand Fork Road. Here we missed our turn and blasted down past Camp Lomia before realizing our error and backtracking. We found Little Cottonwood Trail and rode up that. This trail is a bit loose in spots and very narrow. Once again, enjoyable scenery the whole way…when you can catch your breath and look around! It’s pretty steep in a couple spots but then at the end it opens into huge meadows with great big views.
The climbing continues on doubletrack through meadow after meadow with happy cows grazing. There is nothing in any direction out here for miles and miles except nature. After a forever climb, we started our last decent back to Temple Fork Road and camp.
