Spence Mountain

We are way behind on blog posts. Our internet here is horrible so it’s difficult to upload pictures or even write a blog post.

We think the snowy part of spring might finally be over and the last few days have been warm and sunny. Last week we went to Spence Mountain in Klamath Falls to mountain bike. We rode there back in 2018 and since then, Dirt Mechanics built even more trails. Spence Mountain is a true gem for the area. All the trails are so well built and the elevation change in the area makes for good riding with long sustained climbs and ripping descents.

Our ride here was almost 20 miles with 2, 562′ of climbing. I really liked Queen of the Lake Trail for it’s technical difficulty. There are rock gardens everywhere and the tread is cut into the side of the mountain above the lakeshore. That said, it’s black diamond and would be hell for a beginner.

Small world – the only other people we saw on our ride were some friends from back when we lived in Bend. We stopped and chatted for awhile and it was fun catching up.
