After taking a couple short travel days, we arrived at Annie Springs in Crater Lake National Park in a blizzard. What are we doing here you ask?
Derek and I are living in our trailer here over the summer and earning some extra money. He is working as a chef and I am working in the vault. It’s a new adventure!
On our first day after setting up the trailer and clearing some snow, we headed up to the rim to see the lake. Both of us have only ever been here in the summer when we’ve ridden our bikes around the crater. Let me tell you, in the winter it’s a whole lot different. There are towering walls of snow everywhere. In fact, Crater Lake gets the most snow of any place in Oregon in the winter. Problem is, it’s May and we’re still getting a lot of snow.
These were taken last week on the one nice sunny day. We snowshoed from the Rim Cafe up towards Garfield Peak and back to get some different views. Since then it has snowed 1-2 feet. Stay tuned for new adventures all summer.
