Saguaro National Park has two separate locations, intersected by the entire city of Tucson. The east one is where we ride a nice road loop because the paved road is one way and twisty and for the most part, you are going as fast as any car so traffic isn’t an issue. It doesn’t get that much car traffic during the week so you’re likely to only encounter a few. The west park however, is heavily trafficked and the road is very narrow with no shoulder and I’ve never ridden there. We were there to hike.
We hiked Wasson Peak out here on a previous trip and I highly recommend that. It is more challenging but has great views as a payoff. This time we hiked an easier loop to Picture Rocks and around. It was just under 5 miles and fairly quick. We only saw a few people and they were at the Picture Rocks looking at the petroglyphs. The rest of the time we were hiking by ourselves. Just us and all the Saguaro.
