We visited Quinalt Rainforest on a hike one day, Hoh Rainforest on a hike another day, and now Bogachiel Rainforest on today’s hike. The Bogachiel is less visited. In fact, the day we hiked it there were no other cars in the parking lot. It is the hardest to get to in that the road turns to a tiny gravel road and is pothole riddled.
The river trail is 23 miles long but we did a loop with Ira Springs for a shorter 3.3 mile day hike. – The name Bogachiel comes from the Quileute words meaning “muddy waters.” and you do get to see the river on this hike. It didn’t look particularly muddy to me. The terrain is similar to the Hoh and Quinalt rainforests but this one felt a little more rustic. Again, this isn’t fast hiking because there is so much to see and my neck was sore by the end of the day.
