We set out to go to the Irrigation Festival in downtown Sequim to see what that was all about but got sidetracked. Sidetracked by the Sequim Log Festival. Who knew?
First we went to the marina to walk around and enjoy the great weather we are being treated to up here on the Peninsula. Then on our way over to see the car show at the Irrigation Festival, we passed by the Log Festival. We had no idea what was going on but we parked and walked over to find out. Well, let me tell you, we watched a tractor pull contest, chainsaw artists, axe throwing contests and more!
The festival took place at Carrie Blake Park. This park is awesome! It’s 52 acres, and has darn near everything. We were impressed with the friendship garden which was a gift from Sequim’s sister city, Yamasaki (now Shiso City). There are magnificent walking paths throughout and all sorts of flowers and plants. Just to mention a few; Cherry trees in full blossom, Crimson Cloud Hawthorn Trees, Magnolia Trees, Japanese Wisteria, Azaleas, and Irises. Spring is here!
