This is our second time hiking Little River Trail in Olympic National Park and it was just as magical. It’s such a quiet uncrowded trail in deep forest. It’s almost creepy in places since it’s so quiet and dense.
We saw slugs, frogs, a little bird, mushrooms and plenty of green plants. I can’t identify what type of bird it is but he was just sitting on the ground at the base of a big cedar watching us. I don’t know if he could fly yet. Update: this is a rare endangered Marbled Murrelet and someone rescued it and took it to the Wildlife Center.
This trail makes for a great long weekend hike if you continue on because it ends up at Hurricane Ridge. We didn’t go that far, but you could.
