Colorado Trail Segment 2
Section 2 of the Colorado Trail was very different from a lot of the other sections we’ve ridden We did this as an out and back from camp one day which made it 25 miles and 3000′ climbing. The trail winds through old burn and drops down down down to the Platte River right by where we started the North Fork Lollipop ride.
The riding isn’t overly technical other than the distance, climbing and switchbacks down to the river. Again, the views are the Belle of the ball… When you can see them through all the sweat!
Free Hiking
We climbed a rock mountain. I don’t know if it has a name, but we’d passed it a few times and thought it looked cool. It was a free hike thing where you just pick your way to the top Awesome views.
Buffalo Creek Trails
Our last Buffalo Creek ride was bittersweet. The riding in the area is beautiful and fun, but after a couple weeks here, it’s time to move on. We rode a 32 mile loop with somewhere between 3500′-4500′ of climbing.
The loop included some trails we hadn’t touched before, and we ventured up to Rasberry Gulch overlook too. Strawberry Jack was a lot of fun, a rip roaring descent through burn. The wide open mountain views felt very grandiose. I knew we’d have to do a fair amount of climbing to get back up and over but I didn’t care, so worth it. It was a long day and a great way to say goodbye.
