After a couple days of big hikes we took an easy day and hiked Devil’s Hall in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It was 5 miles with somewhere over 700′ of climbing.
This trail climbs gradually from the lot then drops down into Pine Springs Camyon wash where the hike stays the rest of the time. It isn’t difficult hiking as long as you’re comfortable scrambling over and around rocks because there is a lot.
Eventually we reached a natural rock layered staircase we climbed up, and around the corner was a cool little slot canyon. The rocky canyon walls made for a picturesque setting and we kept going after exploring. The official trail ends but you can hike up the canyon as far as you want. The character of the trail doesn’t change much, it’s just so quiet and peaceful back there.
Tomorrow is another big hike so it was nice to kick back and relax all evening.
