The Crater Lake area has a lot of hiking options and one evening I did a really quick one by our campspot. Godfrey Glen is only about 1.2 miles itself but I did a bunch of extra credit hiking to make it longer.
The trail is fairly flat overall and more of a path. It winds through the forest of hemlock and shasta fir and then along the rim of the ravine. You can hear Duwee Falls but you never get to see it. Though I was able to see it from the Annie Creek Canyon Trail a different day.
The steep sided drainage, lined for several hundred feet by a straight wall of scoria, is partly eroded into columns you can see in one of the pictures in our gallery. It’s such a dramatic landscape and the lack of other hikers made it easy for me to stop and gaze. I did find a few places where I could hike down to the creek and boy, that water is cold! Straight ice melt.
