After spending spring in Arizona and New Mexico, we’ve migrated back over to Colorado for the summer and are staying in the Mancos area for a few months. We’ve spent quite a bit of time in SW Colorado over the past couple decades and always have a good time.
We’ve already been busy with all the things there are to do. Last weekend we went to Animas River Days in Durango and watched rafts, kayakers and paddleboarders brave the freezing cold river whitewater park in different competitions. It was a nice warm day out of the water but brrrr in it!
Phil’s World trail network has grown since we were last in the area. Now there is about 50 miles of singletrack to string together different rides. Some of the new trails are pretty challenging though only two in the network claim to be black diamond. A few of the intermediate trails are pretty tricky with rock gardens and some steep pitches in and out of the canyons.
The sweet smell of sage and all the spring wildflowers give off such good scents when the scattered showers roll in some evenings. It’s a great time of year and we’re enjoying our time. Speaking of enoying..we stopped in the Wildedge Brewing Collective in Cortez to enjoy some tasty beers. We’ve been in before and were happy to find they still had some of our favorites. It’s a small place that doesn’t open until 3pm but it’s worth the wait.
