Near the tiny town of Dolores, Colorado is a trail network called Boggy Draw. We have ridden here a few times in the past but there are new trails now! Somewhere around 16 miles is groomed in the winter for fat/snowbiking which is a cool addition to the area. However, on a warm sunny summer day we did a fun mountain bike ride. This is a great place to ride when it’s hot because there is a lot of shade from the trees.
The trails weave through scattered ponderosa pine, oak, brush and meadows with flowers dotting the area. Some of the trails have great views of the San Juan Range and well as the Dolores River and north towards Telluride.
Shush Bekeeh Trail (which means Bear Tracks) is a fun fast and flowy trail but the name was a bit harrowing. Especially since we HAVE seen bear tracks out in this network. No bears today but we know we aren’t alone out here. Italian Canyon had some GREAT views and it’s such a contrast to see the snow up on the peaks.
We’ll be back to this network for some more fun trail riding soon.
