On our way out of San Diego we stopped and mountain biked in the Laguna Mountains. Like the Cuyamaca Mountains, we last rode here about 20 years ago. There are more ride options now. Before we used to come out and ride Noble Canyon and sometimes Laguna Meadows. This time we skipped Noble Canyon and rode a bunch of the stuff further out Sunrise Highway.
These trails are beginner friendly in that the climbing is pretty gentle and the trails aren’t too technical. A lot of it is buff singletrack through meadows or into canyons. Our favorite was Gatos Ravine trail because it had some fun downhill switchbacks and a couple small technical sections. Big Laguna Lake was a surprise in that there was a decent amount of water!
Great little stopping point to get a ride in if you’re headed through the area.
