For our last ride in the St George area we went out to the Bear Poppy Trails. We had not ridden these trails since back in the 90’s and the area has grown.
The bear poppy is indigenous to Washington County and the flower can only thrive in specific geological conditions that the St. George area accommodates perfectly. There are sensitive populations of the flower in the area of the trail network so it’s important to stay on the trail and not trample these fragile beings.
These trails are technically pretty easy though there are some pockets of intermediate level riding in the far reaches of the network. We did a good loop that got us away from the trailhead with it’s easier trails. The views go on forever and the wide open space is impressive.
