On a trip into town to pickup groceries, we stopped and did a quick hike on the West Weaver Creek and Upper Creek Trails. This 4ish mile loop is located on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The BLM granted Trinity County a 50-year right-of-way for this trail in August 1999.
The hike is easy and features lots of oak and Pacific Madrone trees, many little bridges, and wildflowers. We didn’t see anyone else but I imagine it gets a lot of use on the weekends since it is so close to residential areas. The trail is multi purpose so open to horses and mountain bikers as well.
Watch out for poison oak. I washed with Tecnu afterwards just in case I brushed up against any during the hike. Just be aware – it’s out there! I always thought I was immune to it until a few years ago when I finally got it. Yikes, it was bad and I don’t want that again.
