From our boondocking spot in Camp Verde, we rode out a gravel road and did a hike up along Clear Creek. The hike actually goes for something like 21 miles but you have to cross the creek (the sign calls it swim crossings), about a dozen times each way. We just did a few miles before riding back.
This place must be pretty popular in the summer when it’s blazing hot in this area but this time of year it was cool in the shade and the water was running pretty good. We saw a few other backpackers but other than that, it was quiet.
